Company History
Helia Photonics Ltd was formed in September 2002 and is based in purpose-built facilities at Rosebank Park, Livingston in Scotland.
The company founder Dr Gerald Buller (Chief Executive Officer) formed the company to address a need for coatings and back-end processing in semiconductor optoelectronic components and to address a gap in servicing the prototype precision coating requirements of SME's and research institutions.
The directors have been joined by a strong management team and a highly experienced engineering team led by Caspar Clark (Chief Technical Officer). The company raised substantial initial funding from private investors, and have support from nearby Heriot-Watt University - a centre of optoelectronics research. The company is based in a state-of-the-art 8,000 ft2 facility in the central belt of Scotland, midway between Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Helia is always interested in building relationships with future customers. Existing customers span the spectrum of requirements - from one-off prototypes for university researchers to customers with semiconductor device batch sizes in excess of 50,000 devices.
